From the iconic billboards of cows mischievously painting “eat more chikin” to Motel 6’s heartwarming “we’ll leave the light on for you”, The Richards Group (TRG) has produced plenty of iconic and award-winning work since the agency’s inception in 1976. Founder and creative leader of the group, Stan Richards, moved to Dallas in the 1950s and soon created what would be one of the largest independent advertising agencies in the world. The University of Texas in Austin named their school of advertising after the advertising legend who was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame in 2017. As 2019 came to a close, Richards announced that his successor would be TRG’s 40-year veteran Glenn Dady. Dady is an award-winning advertising great who graduated top of his class at ArtCenter College of Design. Dady has worked on numerous TRG clients including Bridgestone Tires and Alpha Romeo, creating large-scale Super Bowl ads to beautifully designed print ads. Richards, who is 87-years-old, has no plans on ever retiring and will continue to oversee all creative work produced at the agency. The legacy of game-changing advertising will continue to flow through the agency as the changing of the reins begins to settle in at the full-size agency.
